 Ms Kihara is a seasoned and well-rounded communications specialist with over 17 years’ experience.

She has worked as communication specialists in the field of agriculture, conservation, health, among others. Some of the programs she has worked on span the African continent, including South Africa, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, among others.

Stella has both strategic and hands on tactical experience as an implementer of communications plans. These include developing communication strategies including community mobilization and policy advocacy along value chains for various agricultural commodities; strategic media liaison which includes writing press material like press releases and organizing press conferences for national and international media; training staff in communications and media skills and developing communication training manuals; evaluating communications programs; documentation and writing – writing and producing communications materials like audio and visual documentation, features, documenting best practices and knowledge and information management to network special interest groups.

She has led and also worked as part of national and international teams to develop communication strategies for key World Bank funded programs in Africa which include a strategy to promote Public Private Partnership in Health Service delivery in Africa, Africa Stockpile Program and the Arid Lands Resource Management Program.

Other key organizations that she has previously developed and implemented communication strategies for include USAID supported programs in health and agriculture, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation programs including the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), Terre De Hommes, ACDI/VOCA, World Vision Ethiopia, UNAMID-Sudan, Kenyan Government Institutions including the Kenya Reformed Police Service and the Privatization Commission of Kenya.
